The Stott Pilates/Pilates Academy International (PAI) Difference

The STOTT® Pilates/PAI Method is a progressive approach to Pilates exercise that builds on the essence and principles of the late Joseph H. Pilates’ work by incorporating modern knowledge about the body.

Based on their extensive training in core Pilates and with input from today’s health and fitness professionals, Stott Pilates/PAI updated the method to incorporate contemporary biomechanics. Stott Pilates involves more initial pelvic and shoulder girdle stabilization exercises than the original method. In addition, the anatomically based concepts of “neutral” spine and pelvis are incorporated to help restore the natural curves of spine—a departure from the original technique and other forms of fitness which focus on a “pelvic tilt” to flatten the back.

Respected by doctors, physical therapists, chiropractors and physiologists, this comprehensive system is taught by fitness and health professionals worldwide.

Body Mind & Soul Pilates employs qualified instructors of the Stott Pilates/PAI method of exercise who have completed Stott/PAI’s teacher certification program, which involves 500-plus hours of rigorous practical and theoretical training, as well as an injury and special populations course which focuses on customizing workouts to address specific weaknesses such as postural problems or injuries and special conditions like pregnancy, breast cancer or fibromyalgia.
